It's quite common with the 2012-2018 F30 3-Series to hear a metallic rattle coming from the rear lower gas tank area, especially during heavy acceleration when the vehicle's weight shifts. This noise happens when the plastic bracket (yes, plastic...) holding the two parking brake cables breaks. Eventually, the cables hang just above the driveshaft, leading to that metallic rattle you're hearing. Regardless of the cause, it's essential to replace this.
